What is Physiotherapy?

The practice of Physiotherapy dates back as far as 300 – 400BC and the Greek physician Hippocrates. The modern science of Physiotherapy though, is generally considered to have been introduced towards the end of the 19th century.

Simply defined, physiotherapy is the treatment of movment dysfuncitons in the body and painful conditions causing reduced mobility and reduced capacity to perform your normal daily activities. The treaments are provided by physical methods such as hands on manual therapy and massage, electical modailties (Electro Physical Agents), heat or ice treatment, bracing, taping and exercise rather than by drugs or surgery.
